Born in France in 1983, Thibaud first made himself known on the Freeride World Tour, finishing 6th in the world in 2009 with 3 top five results during the season. Since 2011, he has been touring the globe to discover new mountains and new lines. Japan, Greenland, Kamchatka, Patagonia - he has already surveyed many countries. He is a great lover of Russia and has recently explored the Kurils.
He is also the author of the documentary films in which he participates: he is the star of “THE EMPIRE OF WINDS”, the new documentary directed by French film director Laurent Jamet.
I ski to be alone in the mountains, alone against the elements. I like to feel the adrenaline, that moment when you have to be focused because error is not allowed. Skiing brings you this MOMENT.
I like to clear my mind by doing something else, usually a non-ski related activity. Traveling, discovering new cultures, new sports... These moments are precious and they allow me to have even more pleasure when I get back on skis.
What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger. I had a serious accident in the past, and it was a very hard time. This experience made me dive very deep and also allowed me to stand where I am today - to be able to have a career as a skier and to be able to create opportunities for myself, many of which are dreams for me.
I always try to de-dramatize the situation and to keep a cool attitude. I try to analyze the situation and decide on the solutions to be put into place to overcome the difficulties. Panic or stress is the worst “friend” you can have in a difficult situation... so relax, breath, and work through it ;)
Success is a long road with many sacrifices. To get there, I had to work, work and work. Talent is precious but not enough. I sacrificed a lot of personal time at the expense of my family, leisure time, holidays, outings with friends... to focus on my career, training and film projects.
It's not always easy, because we live a little against the current of our friends, but it's really worth it. I would do it again without any hesitation
Being rested, having a clear mind and a positive attitude helps me to react faster, to make the right decisions, to make the right move. The mountain is a hostile environment and it is important to keep that in mind. That's why it's important to have all the good things on your side for that moment you have to perform.
Lots of very different things! Travel around the world, Cinema, Culture, Opera, Sport, Organization of the Winter Film Festival,... And sometimes just chilling and resting, because it's also nice to relax at home!
